Obituary

Wilma Nadene Layton

of Mountain Home, Arkansas

Wilma Nadene Layton passed from this life on June 11, 2026.  She was born on July 28, 1943, at Oil Trough, Arkansas to Carl and Vela Ball. Wilma spent her life serving her Lord and Savior alongside her husband, Remil Layton. She was a member of Wises Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Wilma graduated from Oil Trough High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1961. That same year, on October 7th, she married the love of her life, Remil Layton. Throughout their 64 years together the two shared many wonderful blessings, mission assignments, and adventures.

Wilma was a life long learner.  She enjoyed studying her Bible, reading, writing, crocheting, and caring for others by showing them God's love. In 2006, at the age of 63, she completed her Associates Degree. She wanted to demonstrate to her grandchildren and great grandchildren that you can do anything you set your mind to do.  Of all these things, she loved to teach others about the love of God the most.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Leona Davis, and her brother-in-law, Rex Davis.

Survivors include her loving husband, Remil Layton; their three children: Ricky (Tracie) Layton, Lovela "Kay" Layton Davis, and Melody (Johnny) Adamson; Her nine grandchildren: Naomi Layton, Zachary (Jessika) Layton, Nathan (Sarah) Davis, Matthew Davis, Seth (Kristin) Layton, Anna (Jake) Mankin, Raygan (Courtney) Adamson, Jason Davis, and Parker Adamson;  eleven great grandchildren: Kyler Layton, Jaedyn Dowdy, Ethan Layton, Ember Layton, Eisley Layton, Emma Davis, James Gray, Lucas Layton, Macie Layton, Abigail Davis, and Miles Adamson that she loved fiercely as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

All visitation and service will be at Eddies' Funeral Home in Melbourne, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, June 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Services will be Saturday, June 20th at 10:00 am. David Johnson is officiating.  Burial will follow in Combs Cemetery located in Melbourne, Arkansas.
