William Preston Shaver

Of Violet Hill, Arkansas

William Preston Shaver, son of the late Hubert Shaver and Alta Conner Shaver, was born September 25, 1928 in Violet Hill, Arkansas.  He departed this life September 11, 2022 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 11 days.  Bill was a graduate of Violet Hill High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, provider and friend.  Most of his working years were spent as a tool and die engineer with White Rodgers in Batesville.  He was an avid sportsman and successful cattleman.  He was a member of Gainesboro Masonic Lodge 258 in Batesville.  Bill was of the Baptist faith and a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Violet Hill.

He is survived by four daughters:  Deanna Shaver of Newark, Teresa Shaver of Little Rock, Sherry Coombs and husband Larry of Batesville, and Vicky Mitchell of Augusta, Kansas; one son:  Rusty Shaver of Dolph; one brother:  Chuck Shaver and wife Annette of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister:  Jean Guthrie of Austin, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; his special friend:  Jetta Peters of Oxford and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two children:  Richard Shaver and Melody Shaver; one brother:  Rufus Shaver; one sister:  Eleanor Morgan; three grandsons:  Cody Shaver, Larry "Bubba" Barnett and Billy Boatwright.

Visitation and funeral service will be Wednesday, September 14.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church.  Graveside funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Violet Hill Cemetery with Randy Bailey officiating, under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
