Virginia Lee Stevens

Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Virginia Lee Stevens, daughter of the late Melvin McGarrity and Bernice Grindle McGarrity, was born February 7, 1935 in South Bend, Indiana. She departed this life March 29, 2020 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 22 days. Virginia spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. In 1955 she was united in marriage to Andrew Austin and together they raised one daughter until his death in 1990. On January 21, 1999, Virginia married Larry Stevens. Most of her working years were spent at Borg-Warner Incorporated, retiring after 34 years of employment. Later in life, she worked as a home care aid. She attended Pleasant Valley Community Church.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years: Larry Stevens of the home; one daughter: Angela Simpson of Platte City, Missouri; one stepdaughter: Suzanne Henry of Houston, Texas; one brother: Michael McGarrity of New Hampshire; three grandsons: Andy Walker (Bobbie Joe) of St. Joseph, Missouri, Joe Walker (Lindsey) of Oreana, Illinois, Dylan Simpson (Rocky) Gladstone, Missouri; two great grandsons: Jack Walker, James Walker and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; three sisters: Patricia, Charlotte, Betty, one brother: William; one great granddaughter: Lillian Charlotte Walker.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
