Virginia Jones Roberts

Virginia Jones Roberts, age 88, of Pineville, Arkansas passed away on February 28, 2023.

She was born May 11, 1934, to George and Mary Martin Hammett in Wideman, Arkansas, the last born of their six children.  In her teen years she was a care giver for different families in Pineville and Mountain Home before moving to Chicago where several of her siblings had relocated for work.  She did factory work there before marrying Avery Gene Jones on November 23, 1957.  She returned home to Arkansas with their son Paul after the death of her husband in 1973.  She remarried Richard Roberts on January 18, 1976.

Virginia was a member of the Pineville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, many different types of craft making, listening to Country Music and traveling.  She loved spending time with family and getting a few good Rook games whenever possible.  For many years, she enjoyed working the elections in Pineville, gardening, taking care of her lawn, and maintaining some beautiful hanging baskets of flowers on her front porch each Summer.

Virginia is survived by her son, Paul Jones (Revah) of Mountain Home; grandson:  Dan Jones of Carter Lake, Iowa; granddaughters:  Rachel Nelson (Ben) of Malvern, Iowa and Samantha Rea (John Kidd) of Mountain Home; great granddaughter:  Alyssa Kidd of Mountain Home; brother and sister-in-law:  Everett and Mary Sue Jones of Mountain Home; sister-in-law:  Audean Hammett Baker of Mountain Home and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her two brothers:  G. W. Hammett and Cecil Hammett; three sisters:  Ailene Hammett, Armilda Skidmore and Rhudine McCurley; one niece:  Darlene Skidmore and a nephew:  J. B. McCurley.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 3 from 5- 7 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock, Arkansas with the funeral at the same location at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 with Leon Morehead officiating. Burial to follow at Wideman Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Charlie Hammett, Harold Hammett, Kim Yancey, Mike Jones, Charles Harris and Kirk Boyd.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Everett Jones, Barry Rice, Noel Morehead and Donald Cross.
