Velda Joyce Edington Garner

of Sage, Arkansas

Velda Joyce Edington Garner, daughter of the late Samuel Harvey Edington and Goldie Marie Constant Edington, was born September 29, 1949 in Guion, Arkansas. She departed this life December 28, 2018 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 29 days. She was a 1967 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She was united in marriage to Larry Michael Garner and together they raised two children. Velda spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend. During her working years, she was employed with ConAgra in Batesville and a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. She retired after 32 years of employment. She enjoyed playing the piano for the church service at Pioneer Nursing and Rehab. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years: Larry Michael Garner of the home; one daughter and son-in-law: Cindy and Mike Hall of Mount Pleasant; one son and daughter-in-law: Karl and Nikki Garner of Wynne; two siblings: Wilburn Edington and wife Nola of Wiseman and Dorothy Lovelady of Guion; six grandchildren: Todd Garner of Starkville, Mississippi, Rae Garner of Conway, Ryan Garner of Wynne, Tali Garner of Wynne, Corey Hall of Mount Pleasant and Samuel Hall of Mount Pleasant and a host of other relatives and many good friends. Velda was preceded in death by her parents; one infant sister: Nelda Royce Edington and one brother-in-law: Borden Lovelady.

Visitation and funeral service will be Sunday, December 30 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Reeves Cemetery.
