Treva Jane Tomlinson Miller

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Treva Jane Tomlinson Miller, daughter of the late Waldon H. Tomlinson and Florence Faye Fudge Tomlinson, was born October 6, 1937 in Zion, Arkansas.  She departed this life September 26, 2022 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 20 days.  She was a lifelong resident of Izard County and was a 1955 graduate of Melbourne High School. She was united in marriage to Paul Gray Miller April 2, 1955 in Batesville, Arkansas and together they raised three sons.  She attended Arkansas State Teacher's College in Conway (now UCA) and graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.  Treva taught second grade at Valley View near Jonesboro for three years and one and a half years at Violet Hill before beginning a thirty-year run at Melbourne Elementary School.  Almost all of that time was spent teaching first graders.  There are several hundred of her former students living in Izard County and beyond, all of whom learned to read under her tutelage.  She had a passion for teaching kids.  It was her calling.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Melbourne First Baptist Church.

Treva is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years:  Paul Gray Miller of Melbourne; three sons:  Rick Miller and wife Pat of Nevada, Missouri, Gene Miller and wife Pam of Melbourne and Bobby Gray Miller and wife Amanda of Melbourne; one brother:  Jerry Tomlinson and wife Virginia of Lawrence, Kansas and their daughter:  Debra Ann Meisenheimer of Pratt, Kansas; four grandchildren:  Rachel Karpinski and husband Jeremy, Johnathon Gray Miller, Samantha Jane Miller and Mary Beth Miller; one great grandchild:  Judah Karpinski; one sister-in-law:  Jean Harvell of Melbourne; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her father and mother-in-law:  Robert Gray Miller and Nobia Marchant Miller.

Visitation and funeral service will be Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Melbourne First Baptist Church.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.   Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Doyne Robertson and Rick Burke officiating. Burial will be at Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
