Obituary

Thomas David Curtis, son of the late William Earl Curtis and Margaret Sue Deur Curtis, was born January 15, 1950 in Forrest City, Arkansas. He departed this life November 12, 2021 at his home in Brockwell, Arkansas at the age of 71. Tom proudly served in the United States Air Force from August 1968 to August 1976. After his honorable discharge, he went to work for Union Pacific Railroad. He spent many years working at Western Auto in Calico Rock. His last employment was with Izard County Consolidated School. Tom was united in marriage to Peggy Sherrell in 1984. Tom and Peggy were rarely seen without the other by their side, and she remained by his side until he was reunited with Jesus. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Tom loved the Lord, spending time outdoors, and deer hunting. He farmed cattle and hay for many years and enjoyed using these activities to spend time with his kids, while teaching them the value in a hard day's work. Tom enjoyed watching Arkansas Razorback football and both playing and watching softball with his friends and family.

Tom is survived by his wife of 37 years: Peggy Curtis of the home; two sons: Rick Skidmore and wife Nicole of Wideman and Bradley Skidmore of Brockwell; two daughters: Kelly Perkins and husband Macon of Greers Ferry and Amber Puckett and husband Richard of Paragould; one brother: William "Bill" Curtis and wife Martha of Haynes, one sister: Joyce Umfress of Bakersfield, California; one sister-in-law Sue Curtis of Haynes; 13 grandchildren: Keegan Roberts, Dillon Perkins, Hunter Fields, Bryce Skidmore, Macy Skidmore, Logan Perkins, Halle Skidmore, Cole Puckett, Shelby Skidmore, Maddie Puckett, Dani Skidmore, Makenzie Yancey and Callie Skidmore; one great grandson: Ryatt Skidmore; and a host of other relatives and many good friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: John Auby Curtis and Phillip Guy Curtis; his uncle and aunt: Guy and Matt Briley.

Funeral service will be held Friday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock with John Lovelace officiating. Graveside funeral service with military honors will be Saturday, November 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Andrews Cemetery in Haynes, Arkansas.

Pallbearers: Dillon Perkins, Logan Perkins, Cole Puckett, Rick Skidmore, Bradley Skidmore and Stan Davenport.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bryce Skidmore, Dale Boyd, Don Davis, Hunter Fields, Keegan Roberts, Lowell Melton and Lanny Bosnick.
