Shirley Mae Moore Burns

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Shirley Mae Moore Burns, daughter of the late James L. Moore and Velma Bowen Moore, was born November 7, 1941 in Mullica Hill, New Jersey.  She departed this life January 26, 2023 at her home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 19 days.  She was united in marriage to John Fredrick "Jack" Burns June 5, 1959 and together they raised four sons.  Shirley spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  Most of her working years were spent working as a Registered Nurse at hospitals and nursing homes.  After retiring from nursing, she spent ten years as a truck driver. She was a member of Batesville Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years: Jack Burns of the home; two sons:  Pat Burns and wife Mandy of Newburg and Arden Burns and wife Kathy of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one brother:  David Moore of Batesville; six grandchildren:  Marjorie Elamae (Derrick) Green, John (Charlee) Burns, Elijah Burns, Kristen Burns, Baxter Burns, Sawyer Burns; six great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons:  Jesse Burns and Jimmy Burns and one daughter-in-law:  Karen Burns.

Graveside Memorial service will be Saturday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Kyler Cemetery in Southside, Arkansas.

Cremation arrangements by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
