Sammy Vernon Roddy

Sammy Vernon Roddy, son of the late Sam Roddy and Vivian Robbins Roddy, was born April 17, 1944 in Batesville, Arkansas. He departed this life September 16, 2019 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 30 days. He was united in marriage to Paula Jean Cooper June 23, 2010. He spent his life as a loving son, nephew, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. Vernon worked as a carpenter, building and remodeling homes. He also managed Carter Poultry Farm. He was a member of Melbourne Masonic Lodge #141. Vernon was of the Baptist faith and a member of Melbourne First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 9 years: Paula Roddy of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Sam and Judy Roddy of Grant, Alabama and Terry and Mary Harris of Salem; six daughters and four sons-in-law: Kathy and John Johansen of California, Susan and Gavin Franke of Batesville, Shana and Derex Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, Mika Roddy of Batesville, Debra Harris of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Kim and Kevin Vantine of Mountain Home; fifteen grandchildren: Matthew Sollock, Briar Sollock, Shelby Roddy, Ashley Hall, Stephanie Johansen, Steven Johansen, Kalyn Williams, Tylan Williams, Gage Harris, Kynlea Harris, Megan Jones, Kaylee Jones, William Vantine, Katie Vantine, Cole Vantine; two great grandchildren: Chloe and Arleigh Hall; cousin: Winston Roddy and wife Colleen of Brockwell and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

Visitation and graveside funeral service will be Saturday, September 21. Visitation will be at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne from 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.. Graveside funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Violet Hill Cemetery with Doyne Robertson and Jack Yancey officiating.
