Ruby Tipton Messer

Of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas

Ruby Tipton Messer, daughter of the late John A Tipton and Elizabeth Rose Tipton, was born on April 27, 1926, in Clintwood, Virginia.  She departed this life on July 8, 2023, in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 15 days.  She was united in marriage to Robert Jounier Messer on March 8, 1945 in Clintwood, Virginia and together they raised two children. Ruby spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother, homemaker, and friend.  During her working years, she did factory work during World War II and was employed by Gordon's Pillow Service, that provided pillows for Greyhound Buses out of the Detroit Terminal.  She was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of Barren Fork Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant.

Ruby is survived by two children:  Greg Messer and wife Jeanie of Mount Pleasant; one daughter:  Deborah Montgomery and husband Dennis of Colorado; three grandchildren:  Allyson Gillihan and husband Sam of Colorado, Matthew Montgomery and wife Eren of Colorado and Monica Burke and husband Leo of Michigan; five grandchildren:  Henry Gillihan, Peter Gillihan, Chelsea Clouse, Cassaundra Messer, and Jessica Hicks; five great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; ten siblings and one grandson:  Gregory Messer, Jr.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Alan Meinzer officiating.  Burial will follow at Barren Fork Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
