of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Roger Dale Woods, I, son of the late Santford "Saint" William Woods and Pauline Whitehead Woods, was born April 15, 1951 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  He departed this life August 5, 2023 at his home in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 22 days. Roger spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend.  Most of his working years were spent as an agricultural pilot, crop dusting in and around Craighead County.  He retired and moved to Calico Rock, where he met and married Shona Walker.  Roger was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Dolph.

He is survived by three children:  Pamela King and husband Jon of Pineville; Roger Woods, II and wife Mindy of Jordan; and Amy Lynn Cowgill and husband Jamey of Dolph; seven grandchildren:  Tyler Cowgill, Kristan (Shawn) Cowden, Emily (Matt) Rodgers, Ryan King, Jacie (Zane) Davis, Beau (Alyssa) Woods, Savannah Cowgill; five great grandchildren:  Eli Rodgers, Oliver King, Adah Rodgers, Hudson Davis, Josiah Rodgers; his former wife and mother of his children:  Peggy Hively of Calico Rock, and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five siblings:  Vaughn Woods, Wanda Morgan, Carolyn Carr, Connie Tedder, and David Woods; also, a cousin raised in the family home and considered a brother, Paul Vernor.

Visitation and funeral service will be Wednesday, August 9th, at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.  Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.   Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Trimble Campground Cemetery in Dolph.
