Robert Hanley "R. H." Smith, son of the late Robert Hanley Smith, Sr and Dimple Hutchins Smith Tyree, was born January 12, 1942 at Twin Creek, Arkansas. He departed this life June13, 2019 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 1 day. R H was a lifelong resident of Izard County. He attended school in Melbourne and he was very proud to be a member of the Class of 1959. He was united in marriage to Sandra Ferraro June 15, 1962 and together they raised three children. R H spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. He owned and operated Smith Drywall for 55 years, along with his sons Mark and Eric. He also raised cattle with Mark. R H was raised in the Church of Christ. Along with his family, they attended Twin Creek Church of Christ. R H loved to bowl, coon hunt and dig for arrowheads. He was well known for witching water and removing warts.

R H is survived by his wife of 56 years: Sandy Smith of the home; three children: Cynthia Finley (Tim), Mark Smith (Kelley) and Eric Smith (Pattie) all of Melbourne; five siblings: Alene Stevens of Rogers, Jerri Haney of Melbourne, Jim Smith of Hot Springs, Charles Smith (Sherry) of Melbourne, John Smith (Joyce) of Mountain View; nine grandchildren: Kayla Ward (Daniel), Kody Finley (Whitney), Kristen, Kassie, Kolten, Matt, Hunter, Erica and Bailey Smith; one great grandson: Eli James Ward and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; half sister: Florine Knowles; three brothers-in-law: James Haney, Charles Stevens and Junior Knowles.

Visitation and funeral service will be Sunday, June 16 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. Funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Combs Cemetery.
