Rick Lynn Gilbreath
of Violet Hill, Arkansas

Rick Lynn Gilbreath, son of the late Elmer and Eva Jett Gilbreath, was born January 27, 1948 in Myron, Arkansas. He departed this life May 3, 2021 at his home in Violet Hill, Arkansas at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 6 days. Rick proudly served in the United State Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. He was discharged in 1968 with the rank of Sergeant. He was united in marriage to Monty Caldwell April 12, 1969 in Calico Rock, Arkansas and together they raised two children. Rick spent his life as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, provider and friend. He was employed as a rural carrier for the United State Postal Service, retiring afer 30 years of employment. Rick was also a farmer, raising cattle. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Franklin Church of Christ.

Rick is survived by his wife of 52 years: Monty Gilbreath of the home; two children: Heather Shands and husband John of Evening Shade and Jonathan Gilbreath and wife Heather of Violet Hill; three grandchildren: Tinlee Gilbreath, Trenton Gilbreath and Hannah Shands; his mother-in-law: Mondalyn McCormack of Calico Rock and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Violet Hill Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Pallbearers: Glendon Everett, Curtis Billingsley, Brent Weaver, Doyle McCollum, Joe Fowler and Doug Harber.

Honorary Pallbearers: J. D. Roberts, Dean Branscum, Bill Doolin, Grant Doolin, Randy Campbell and Steve Bates.
