Richard Max Stephens

Of Batesville, Arkansas

Richard Max Stephens, son of the late Raymond Lee Stephens and Alma Leona Crotts Stephens, was born May 21, 1951 in Salem, Arkansas.  He departed this life August 29, 2022 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 8 days.  Richard spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend.  He was always kind to all and never met a stranger. Most of his life he worked odd jobs, from laborer at a sawmill to automotive repair.

He is survived by three daughters:  Patty Brewer and husband Allen of LaPorte, Indiana, Crystal Stephens of Pocahontas and Kelly Comer and husband Ted of Batesville; two brothers:  Jr. Stephens of Salem and Jim Stephens and wife Sara of Horseshoe Bend; two sisters:  Joyce Russell of Haskell and Janet Cole and husband Walter of Bauxite; four grandchildren:  Cody Brewer, Jackie Combs, Paul Brewer and Eliza Comer; two great grandchildren:  Malia Combs and Josie Combs and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife:  Martha Smith; one; brother:  David Stephens and one sister:  Lanetta Taylor.

A private memorial service will be planned at a later date.
