of Melbourne, Arkansas
Phillip D. Gillihan, son of the late Kenith Gillihan and Jimmy Rhea Thompson Gillihan, was born November 28, 1953 in Melbourne, Arkansas. He departed this life February 15, 2022 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 18 days. He was a graduate of Melbourne High School. He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. He was united in marriage to Diann Thornley June 30, 1984 and together they raised three children. Phillip retired from his position as security guard at Ozarka College after many years of employment. He was of the Churh of Christ faith and a member of Twin Creek Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting deer camp and swapping hunting stories.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 37 years: Diann Gillihan of the home; two sons: Kyle Gillihan (Sativa) of Melbourne and Wayne (Susan) Hutson of Wiseman; one daughter: Amanda Gillihan (Nathan) of Mount Pleasant; two brothers: David Gillihan and Mike Gillihan; one sister: Regenia Gillihan all of Melbourne; four grandchildren: Ashley Peek (Jacob) , Adam "Bub" Peek (Kassie), Bryson Patterson and Alex Lee Gillihan; one great grandson: Trent Woodard and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation and graveside funeral service will be Saturday, February 19. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Graveside funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Combs Cemetery in Melbourne.
