Of Violet Hill, Arkansas
Paul Van Weaver, son of the late Thomas Talmadge Weaver and Susie Johnson Weaver, was born October 6, 1944 in LaCrosse, Arkansas. He departed this life December 18, 2022 at his home in Violet Hill, Arkansas at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 12 days. Paul was a 1962 graduate of Melbourne High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor Degree in Teaching from University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. Paul began his teaching career teaching math and history at Oxford and later Mount Pleasant Schools. He was united in marriage to Sharron Gaston October 8, 1964 and together they raised two children. Paul served as Izard County Clerk and Circuit Clerk for eight years, Izard County Judge for fourteen years and Arkansas State Representative for six years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #141 in Melbourne. Paul was of the Baptist faith and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Sharron Weaver of the home; one son Brent Weaver and wife Sebrina of Violet Hill; one daughter: Tammy Stroud and husband Kendall of Myron; one sister: Julia Smith of Wenatchee, Washington; four grandchildren: Cody (Olivia) Stroud, Ty (Hannah) Stroud, Tristan Weaver, Hallie Weaver; two great grandchildren: Jace Reed Stroud and Grayson Paul Stroud and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Wayne Weaver, Bert Weaver, Von Weaver and four sisters: Sue Wiles, Lorene Wilson, Verna Finley and Eva Jones.
Visitation and funeral service will be Tuesday, December 20 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be held 1 – 2 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery.
