Martha Juanita Lester Cockerel

Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Martha Juanita Lester Cockerel, daughter of the late Richard Lester and Eva Novella Whiteaker Lester, was born October 23, 1932 in Culp, Arkansas.  She departed this life August 25, 2023 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 2 days.  Jaunita spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, homemaker, and friend. Most of her working years were spent at Baxter Lab in Mountain Home.  After retiring from Baxter Lab, she worked at Calico Rock Day Care. Jaunita was kind, quick to forgive and enjoyed spending time with family. She loved going to antique shops, estate sales and garage sales. Jaunita was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.

Jaunita is survived by her son:  Jim Cockerel of Calico Rock; three sisters:  Mary Belle Hagapian of Massachusetts, Gladys Mayfield and husband George of Calico Rock and Shirley Lancaster and husband Glen of Mountain View; one granddaughter:  Lacy Wallace of Gainesville, Missouri; two great granddaughters:  Essence Wallace and D'an Wallace; one great great granddaughter:  Hinata May Greganti and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter:  Karen Copeland; and six siblings:  Almus Smith, Eldon Lester, Earlene Smith, Lola Wilson, Grace lackey and Edna Preciado.

Visitation and funeral service will be Tuesday, August 29 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.   Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Ed Morgan officiating.  Burial will follow at Table Rock Cemetery.
