Helen Marie Blevins Walker Obbards, 92, of Brockwell, Arkansas, passed away at home on February 16.

Born on August 25, 1933, in Oxford, Arkansas, she was the daughter of John Steve Taylor and Ether Agnes Barnes. She married Arvis Blevins on February 4, 1950. Later, she survived a tragic automobile accident despite sustaining very serious injuries; the wreck claimed the life of her first husband.

Marie recovered and married her second husband, Osburn Walker, on August 1, 1959. Together they owned and operated a very successful grocery and dry goods store until their retirement in 1998. She was known for being a dedicated and hardworking woman throughout her life, despite numerous physical hardships.

She was a longtime member of the Oxford Church of Christ. Marie was especially proud that all five of her children attended college, with four earning master's degrees. She also took great pride in the fact that, at one time, three of her children were serving as school district superintendents simultaneously.

Though deeply missed, Helen Marie Walker Obbards' memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her friend and caregiver, Leo White; her children: Richard (Connie) Blevins of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas; Linda (Danny) Edwards of Brockwell, Arkansas; Fred (Michell) Walker of Brockwell, Arkansas; and John (Sharon) Walker of Brockwell, Arkansas.

She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Steven (Kali) Walker, Ryan (Mia) Walker, Andrew Walker, Scott Walker, Josh (Mandy) Blevins, Susi (Chris) Epperson, Wesley (Chalese) Walker, Brooke Armes, Sheila (Jessie) Morgan, Matthew Coffman, Jason Edwards, Jessica Smallwood, Lori (Chad) Bone, and Michael (Amy) Brinkley; twenty-two great-grandchildren: Zoe Walker, Tristan Walker, Owen Walker, Simmie Walker, Kaleb Armes, Taylor Blevins, Kyler (Kenzie) Epperson, Kade Epperson, Shyanna (Preston) Hooper, Hailey Youngman, Adam Morgan, Josie Morgan, Rossi Morgan, Christian Edwards, Caleb Edwards, Alyssa Smallwood, Jacob Smallwood, Nicholas Smallwood, Farrah Turner, Jon (Kendyl) Turner, Beauen Brinkley, and Braylen Brinkley; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Arvis Blevins, Osburn Walker, and Wilbourne Obbards; and her son, Michael Walker.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Thursday, February 19 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.   Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Mike Haney officiating.
