Margaret Lucille Lester

of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Margaret Lucille Lester, daughter of the late Harold Nordrum and Gladys Lucille Shawgo, was born May 29, 1936 in Grove City, Pennsylvania. She departed this life September 29, 2019 in Anchorage, Alaska at the age of 83 years and 4 months. In 1946, Margaret and her family moved to Optimus, Arkansas. She graduated from Calico Rock High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to George N. Lester February 16, 1955 and together they raised four children. At the time of their marrige, George was enlisted in the United States Army. They lived in Germany until 1956 when she retured home to give birth to their first son. They resided in Ohio and Pennsylvania before returning to Calico Rock . Margaret was primarily a wife and stay at home mom. She supported her neighbors in the community by picking strawberries, blackberries and working at a local greenhouse to supply fruit and plants to local businssed. She was a Cub Scout leader. She worked briefly at the nursing home and florist in Calico Rock. She owned her own gas station in Culp and was a tax accountant.

Margaret is survive by one son: Steven J. Lester of Culp; one daughter: Arminda L. Doggett of Anchorage, Alaska; numerous family members including: 11 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sons: George N. Lester, Jr and Lowell T. Lester.

Memorial service will be held at Table Rock Community Center on Sunday October 20, 2019 at 2:00pm.
