Luther Lee Roland, III

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Luther Lee Roland, III, son of the late Luther Lee Roland, II and Jane Lina Stewart Roland, was born March 28, 1936 in Moultrie, Georgia.  He departed this life July 24, 2025 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 89.  Luther was united in marriage to Lavonia Stephens December 2, 1959 and together they raised three children.  Luther spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend.  Most of his working years were spent as a commercial fisherman and long-haul truck driver.  He was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Melbourne Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years:  Lavonia Roland of the home; two daughters:  Christine Haney and husband Randy of Violet Hill and Cornelia Summers and husband Don of Marshfield, Missouri; one sister:  Carol Moore of Melbourne; five grandchildren:  Bryce Summers (Natalie) of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, Mandy Thomas (Maverick) of Conway and Brett Haney (Jodie Sandoval) of Violet Hill, Codi Calhoun of Springfield, Missouri, L'Kaya Roland of Salem; six great grandchildren:  Karsyn Ward, Luther Thomas, Luca  Summers, Ashton Curtis, Gunner Curtis, Quincy Haney and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one son:  Jerry Roland; two brothers:  David Lee Turner and Charles Turner and one grandson:  Drew Summers.

Visitation and funeral service will be Monday, July 28 at Melbourne Church of Christ. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Funeral service will begin at 10:00 with Ryan Lloyd officiating, Shelby Qualls reading the obituary and Daly Brightwell as song leader.  Burial will follow at Old Philadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Pallbearers: Randy Haney, Don Summers, Maverick Thomas, Brett Haney, Steve Patrick, J.P. Rieger.

Honorary Pallbearers:  J. W. Vest, Dan Massey, Bryce Summers.
