Lula Mae Green Sanders

Of Dolph, Arkansas

Lula Mae Green Sanders, daughter of the late James Arthur Green and Versie Ethel Finley Green, was born September 10, 1938 in Elizabeth, Arkansas.  She departed this life October 23, 2025 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 87 years and 43 days.  She was united in marriage to Melvin "Mem" Columbus Sanders May 24, 1954 and together they raised a daughter and son.  Lula spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  During her working years, she worked at Salem Shirt Factory and Calico Rock Shirt Factory before securing a position at Baxter Travenol Lab in Mountain Home.  She retired in 2000, after twenty-nine years of employment.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Dolph Baptist Church.  She had a love for animals, fishing and gardening.  She enjoyed keeping her yard and riding her lawnmower.

Lula is survived by one daughter:  Janice Freeman and husband Jimmy of Dolph; one grandson:  Christopher Sanders and wife Jessica of Kirksville, Missouri; great grandchildren:  Gary Lane Sanders, Ruby Mae Sanders, Allison Miranda Sanders, Jaxson Elliott Sanders and Michael Henry Sanders; one sister-in-law:  Brenda Green of McCrory; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son:  Gary Sanders; six sisters:  Mary Alice Green Bagwell, Emmer Green Gaddis, Jewell Green Kirby, Norma Lee Green Fortune, Dorthie Novella Green, Virgie May Green; three brothers:  Robert Franklin Green, Vernie Green, Earl Thomas Green.

Graveside funeral service will be Monday, October 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Cemetery, near Pineville with Marty Sanders officiating.

Pallbearers:  Rocky Dockins, Randy Summers, Denny Copeland, Steve Fannin, Jimmy Freeman.
