Lula Mae Sherrell

Of Myron, Arkansas

Lula Mae Sherrell, daughter of the late Jesse E. Jackson and Stella Mae Moore Jackson, was born March 12, 1942 in Myron, Arkansas.  She departed this life December 31, 2021 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 19 days.  She was united in marriage to Shelby Sherrell in 1959 and together they raised a family.  Lou spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend.  Most of her working years were spent as a beautician.  She was of the Baptist faith.

Lou is survived by her husband of 62 years:  Shelby Sherrell; one daughter and son-in-law:  Tangi and Elza Wilks of Burleson, Texas; one adopted son:  Steve Finley of Emory, Texas; one sister:  Fay Moser and husband Hank of Violet Hill; three grandchildren:  Trey Sowell, Roxanne Sherrell and Heather Quirrels; several great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law:  Darlene Jackson of Franklin and Joyce Jackson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Rocky Sherrell and two brothers:  Loyd Calvin Jackson and Robert Lee Jackson.

Graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Bates Cemetery, Bates Cemetery Road, Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas with Logan Holladay officiating under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
