Lorene Vest Gillihan

Of Batesville, Arkansas

Lorene Vest Gillihan, daughter of the late John Wesley Vest and Minnie Ada Banning Vest, was born May 8, 1925 in Jumbo, Arkansas.  She departed this life on August 3, 2022 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 97 years, 2 months and 26 days. She was united in marriage to Dallas Gillihan and together they raised two sons. Lorene spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  In addition to being a homemaker, Lorene retired from Baxter Lab in Mountain Home after 22 years of employment.   She was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Melbourne Church of Christ and attended North Heights Church of Christ in Batesville.

Lorene is survived by one son:  Roy Gillihan and wife Lou of Batesville; five grandchildren:  Chris Gillihan, Mark Gillihan, Keith Gillihan, Jennifer Gillihan and Michael Gillihan; ten great grandchildren:  Jason, Jacob, Dallas, Destiny, Lily, Haley, Carlee, Luke, Miley and Miguel Gillihan; four great great grandchildren:  Henry, Hadden, Lane and Cash Gillihan; one daughter-in-law:  Nancy Gillihan of Batesville and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son:  Larry Gillihan; three brothers:  Earthel Vest, Eugene Vest, Thurman Thurl "TT" Vest; five sisters:  Virgie Rush, Odie Rush, Ruby Sims, Mae Cooper and Delphie Campbell.

Visitation and funeral service will be Sunday, August 7 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.   Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be at Combs Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Chris Gillihan, Mark Gillihan, Mike Gillihan, Jason Gillihan, Jacob Gillihan, Dallas Gillihan and Keith Gillihan.
