Larry Norman Weatherford passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 after a long battle with cancer and a more recent battle with leukemia. Larry was born November 25, 1948 in Senath, Missouri, and was raised in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Larry served in the United States Army from 1968-1970 as a combat engineer. He fought in Vietnam in 1968-1969, and served in Germany in 1969-1970. He worked for 12 years at General Motors in Kansas City, Missouri, and was the owner of Drytown Trucking.
Larry received Christ as his Savior and was baptized in July 1995. We know without a doubt that we will see him again in Heaven.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wilson Ray Weatherford; and siblings, Wayne Weatherford and Eletria Morgan Warner.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri; his mother, Alice (Winfrey) Weatherford; his mother in law, Sue Beam; siblings—Reid (Jean) Weatherford of Cushman, Arkansas; Billy Weatherford of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; and Betty Smith of Cave City, Arkansas; and children—Clan Weatherford (Stephanie) of Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas; Angela Pepin (Ringo) of Knoxville, Tennessee; A'Larra Hunt (John) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Teresa Salinas (David) of Olathe, Kansas; and Zack Logan of Wichita, Kansas; and 14 grandchildren—Ashlyn, David, Alex, Will, Braden, Ty, Kyler, Bella, Marlo, Evan, Rian, Madison, Tristan and Owen .
Larry was a jovial joker with a zest for life. He enjoyed golf, race cars, watching his Razorbacks, and loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who know and love him.
Visitation and funeral service will be Sunday, June 6 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rick Burke officiating. Burial will be at Evening Shadows Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend.
