Kathryn Lynn Sheffield Newcomb
Of Melbourne, Arkansas
Kathryn Lynn Sheffield Newcomb, daughter of the late Kenneth Eugene Sheffield and Nancy Lee Jeffrey Sheffield, was born January 15, 1955 in Melbourne, Arkansas. She departed this life September 21, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 6 days. Kathy was a lifelong resident of Izard County. She attended Melbourne High School. She went on to earn an LPN degree from Ozarka College. Kathy spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. Most of her working years were spent working as a nurse at local nursing homes and hospitals. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Melbourne.
Kathy is survived by two sons: Douglas Smith and wife Philisha of Smithville and Ruston Miller and wife Bobie of Mountain Home; one brother: Bobby Sheffield and wife Ruthie of Zion; fourteen grandchildren: Sarah (Ian) Thomas, Alexis Smith, Delanie (Scotty) Harris, Taylin Smith, Bailey (Arthur) Gonser, Jaden Parnell, Tracy Lewis, Amanda Henry, Becca Henry, Jerry Ray Henry, Jesse Henry, Layla Smith, Lillie-auna Smith, Daigen Smith; six great grandchildren: Paislee Lawyer, Rylee Pleasant, Jolie Harris, GraceLynn Henry, Faith Henry -Lowry, Niko Thomas and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Natasha Miller and one granddaughter: Stacy Lewis.
Visitation and funeral service will be Saturday, September 30 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Mike Haney officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Oxford.
Pallbearers: Doug Smith, Ruston Miller, Bobby Sheffield, Arthur Gonser, Michael Masson and C J Masson.
