Of Sage, Arkansas
Junior Wayne Smith, son of the late Walter Smith and Sarah Rogers Smith, was born January 15, 1936 in Lafferty, Arkansas. He departed this life June 4, 2020 at his home in Sage, Arkansas at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Treva Rhea Duren June 15, 1958 and together they raised five children. He proudly served in the United States Army. Wayne spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. While living in Illinois, he was employed by Owens Glass Company, retiring after 18 years. After relocating in Sage, he went to work with Arkansas Lime Company and retired after 17 years of employment. He was of the Baptist faith and an active member of Finley Creek Baptist Church where he served as deacon since 1980.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Treva Smith of the home; four children: James Smith, Linda Lawrence and husband Scott, Gina Sheedy and husband David, and David Smith and wife Joy all of Sage; one brother: Roger Smith and wife Mavis of Wyoming; one sister: Betty Stebens of Washington; seven grandchildren: Rubin Smith (Ashley), Travis Lawrence (Laura), Shawna Love (Brett), Sondra Webb (Joe), Christi Thomas (Kenny), Syndey Sheedy, Garrett Smith; 15 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Mary Biles; one daughter: Connie Pollock; two grandchildren: Russell Sheedy and Trisha Thomas.
Graveside funeral service will be Friday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Family Cemetery in Zion with Steve Stevenson and Rondal Moser officiating.
Pallbearers: Travis Lawrence, Brett Love, Joe Webb, Rubin smith, Garrett Smith, Kenny Thomas.
