Thomas Junior Owens

Of Pineville, Arkansas

Thomas Junior Owens, son of the late Tedie Thomas Owens and Carrie Elizabeth Dockins Owens, was born March 13, 1930 in Wideman, Arkansas. He departed this life December 23, 2020 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 10 days. He was proud to be a lifelong resident of what he considered to be the best place to live and raise a family. He was united in marriage to Mary Katherine Whitfield November 17, 1950 in Pineville, Arkansas and together they raised four children. After school, he started his working career by working in the sawmill, later he went on to working construction jobs as a carpenter. Working in construction, lead him into working as a plumber, eventually earning a master plumber's license. Junior enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.   Having coffee with his friends in the fellowship hall at the church was very special to him. Junior was an active member of the Pineville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had to honor to be an ordained deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Katherine Owens of the home; one son: Kenny Owens and wife Pam of Mountain Home; one daughter: Kathie Grigg and husband Rickey of Dolph; one brother: Darrell Owens and wife Betty of Batesville; three sisters: Pauline Morehead and husband Mervela of Yakima, Washington, Betty Owens of Franklin and Sally Gould and husband Bill of Mountain View, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Gayla Peoples (Ken), Angie Emerson (Brad), Crystal Owens, Brandon Owens (Alicia), Jeremy Grigg (Laiken), Clayton Grigg (Jennifer), Katie Owens, Seth Owens, Zach Ledwich (Lacey); sixteen great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Traci Owens of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law: Bethel Owens of Oxford; brother-in-law: Ellis Jones of Mountain Home and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Jimmy Owens, Larry Owens; daughter-in-law: Gloria Owens; two brothers: Leamon Owens and James Owens; six sisters: Faye Sherrill, Lora Belle Barnes, Gracie Jones, Muna Hollman and infant twins: Molly and Polly Owens.

Graveside funeral service will be Saturday, December 26 at 2:00 p.m at Pineville Cemetery with Wayne Wood and Chris Anderson officiating.

Graveside visitation will begin at 1:15 p.m.
