Joseph Samuel Giefer, Sr.

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Joseph Samuel Giefer, Sr., son of the late Joseph John Giefer and Darlene Goodvin Giefer, was born April 27, 1951 in Dodge center, Minnesota.  He departed this life October 6, 2025 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 74.  Joseph spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend.  Most of his working years were spent operating a dairy farm.  He also was a cattle farmer.  He was united in marriage to Mary Jean Kubista and together they raised three children.  He was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend.

Joseph is survived by two daughters:  Jennifer Giefer of Melbourne, Kristin Giefer of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister:  Laurie Spindler of Minnesota; four grandchildren:  Joseph Giefer, Theo Witte, Noah Gomer, Sam Gomer; six great grandchildren:  Scarlett Giefer, Cameron Giefer, Marcellus Giefer, Tobias Giefer, Temperance Shroian, Serenity Norton and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son Ben Giefer.

The family will be holding a memorial service with a rosary and military honors on Friday, November 7 at St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend.  Rosary begins at 10:40    Memorial service will begin at 11:50 with Father Amal officiating.
