John Dion Colbert

Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

John Dion Colbert, son of the late John Hall Colbert and Mary Alberta Wagner Colbert Brown, was born March 11, 1944 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.  He departed this life August 30, 2020 at his home in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 19 days.  He was united in marriage to Patricia Claudette Hart June 22, 1963 and together they raised four children.  John proudly served in the United States Army as a distinguished and decorated Combat Veteran during the Vietnam War. He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, provider and friend.  Most of his working years were spent at Waterloo Industries in Pocahontas, Arkansas as a Maintenance Supervisor. Retiring after 20 years of employment.  He was an active member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Calico Rock.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years:  Patricia Colbert of the home; two sons and two daughter-in-laws: Dale Devon and Connie Hart and John Patrick and Tiffany Colbert all of Calico Rock; two daughters and two sons-in-law:  Ann Lynette and Jeremy Gamso of Batesville and Amy Sue and Bobby Joe Hankins of Pocahontas; ten grandchildren:  Brittany Hart Stone (Andrew), Christian Devon Hart, John Daniel Colbert (Sydney), Sarah Danielle Colbert, Emma Marie Colbert, Jeremy Aaron Gamso, Allison Grace Gamso, Elizabeth Gabrielle Gamso, Aubrey Hope Gamso and Jennifer Ann Hankins; three great grandchildren:  Xander Ryan Stone, Madeline Grace Hart, Oakley Emerson Stone; one brother-in-law:  Gary Lynn McMullin of Batesville; one sister-in-law: Gayla Renee Hart Dougan ( Matthew) of Imboden, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother:  James B. Colbert; one sister:  Sugretta Choate; one great granddaughter:  Amelia Kay Rose Gamso; one brother-in-law:  Jerry Devon Hart and one sister-in-law:  Elin Kay Hart McMullin.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Friday, September 4 at New Life Assembly of God in Calico Rock.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Brief graveside funeral service and military Honor Services will be held on Friday, September 4 at Maynard Cemetery in Maynard, Arkansas at 3:00 p.m
