Jessie Melvin Edwards

of Violet Hill, Arkansas

Jessie Melvin Edwards, son of the late Baley Simpson Edwards and Katie Lina Parker Edwards, was born December 11, 1932 in Senath, Missouri. He departed this life July 16, 2018 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 5 days. He was united in marriage to Willie Mae Sanders December 15, 1949 in Paragould, Arkansas and together they raised one son. Jessie spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. Most of his working years were spent farming. He was of the Assembly of God faith and attended Dolph Baptist Church.

Jessie is survived by his wife of 68 years: Willie Mae Edwards of the home; one son: Danny Melvin Edwards and wife Linda of Oxford; four grandchildren: Jason Edwards, Jessica Smallwood, Sheila Morgan and Matthew Coffman; nine great grandchildren; special niece: Marcia Lawrence of Mountain View; five nephews; two nieces and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Wanda Huffines, Mary A. Davis and Gladys Wrather.

Visitation and funeral service will be Friday, July 20 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. Funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Wayland Arbor Cemetery in Dolph.
