of Dolph, Arkansas
Jerry Dale Owens, son of the late Eugene Cecil Owens and Colleen Jennings Owens, was born August 11, 1947 in Calico Rock, Arkansas. He departed this life December 3, 2019 in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 22 days. He was united in marriage to Gloria Sanders March 23, 1972 in Dolph, Arkansas and together they raised three children. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. Jerry retired from Young Sales Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri after 34 years of employment. After moving to Dolph, he was a cattle and hay farmer. Jerry was of the Baptist faith and attended Dolph Baptist Church. He was also a member of Retired Ironworkers Union, Local 439 in Terra Haute, Indiana.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years: Gloria Owens of the home; three children: Lesa Neal of Calico Rock, Shane Owens and Travis Owens both of Dolph; two brothers: Jimmy Owens (Thelma) and Johnny Owens (Lynne) all of Calico Rock; two sisters: Linda Bell of Calico Rock and Loretta Ducker (Dennis) of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren: Christopher Owens, Courtney Hutchins, Makayla Hutchins, Tristin Owens, Ayden Owens, Benton Owens, Garbrielle Owens; two great grandchildren: Aiden Tyler, Amara Owens; nine brothers and sisters in law: James Sanders, Jimmy Sanders (Alisa), David Sanders (Patty), Sandra Shell (Jimmy), Brenda Bedwell, Carla Sanders and a host of other relatives and many good friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Joseph Wayne Owens; two sisters: Brenda Haney and Roselle Stanley; two brothers-in-law: Carl Haney and Keith Bell and one sister-in-law: Linda Mooney.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Dolph Baptist Church with Raymon Carneal officiating. Burial will be at Wayland Arbor Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wayland Arbor Maintenance Fund.
Pallbearers: Jason Shell, Steven Sanders, Brandon Hall, Jimmy Shell, Daniel Calvert and Jeremy Owens.
Honorary Pallbearers: Dennis Ducker, Jimmy Owens, Johnny Owens, Willie Stanley, James Sanders, David Sanders, Jimmy Sanders, Terry Sanders and Brandon Stanley.
