Jeralene Brown Love

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Jeralene Brown Love, daughter of the late Garfield Thomas Brown and Ota Elzora Gillihan Brown, was born February 25, 1937 in Twin Creek, Arkansas.  She departed this life November 19, 2024 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 25 days. She was a lifelong resident of Izard County.  Jeralene was the Valedictorian of Melbourne High School Class of 1953. She was united in marriage to Hubert Dewey Love January 10, 1959 in Lafferty, Arkansas and together they raised two sons.  Jeralene spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  During her working years, she held several different jobs; she worked as a telephone operator, she sewed at the White River Shirt Factory and was a secretary at Empire Gas Company.  Jeralene was a skilled crafter, and she loved to garden and loved canning what she grew.  She was a member of the Redbud Extension Homemakers Club for 53 years; she was a 4-H Volunteer Leader and served for many years as Secretary/Treasurer of the Izard County Fair Board. Jeralene was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of the Twin Creek Church of Christ and then later the Melbourne Church of Christ.

Jeralene is survived by two sons: Nathan Love and wife Rhonda of Arapaho, Oklahoma, Alan Love and wife Anita of Melbourne; two sisters:  Imogene James of Cave City and Mary Wheelis and husband Bob of Jonesboro; five grandchildren:  Tamra Brightwell (David) of Melbourne, Anthony Love (Nickala) of Bethesda, Derek Love (Allison) of Swansboro, North Carolina, Drew Love (CourtneyAnn) of Melbourne, Davis Love of Melbourne; seven great grandchildren:  Natalie, Daylee, Zori and Dewey Brightwell, Dryden, Kori and Peyton Love; one sister-in-law:  Marla Brown of Springfield, Missouri; one brother-in-law:  Doyle Love (Betty) of Gid; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant son:  Hubert Dewey Love, Jr., one brother:  Gary Brown; two brothers-in-law:  Leeman James and Darrell Love and one grandson:  Drake Alan Love.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.  Funeral service will be Friday, November 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Melbourne Church of Christ with Danny Brightwell, Ryan Lloyd and Donald Gillihan officiating.  Burial will follow at Combs Cemetery in Melbourne.

Pallbearers:  Anthony Love, Daylee Brightwell, David Brightwell, Drew Love, Davis Love, David Love.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Derek Love, Dryden Love.
