Jean Halbrook Hall
of Melbourne, Arkansas
Jean Halbrook Hall, daughter of the late Leonard B. Halbrook and Nobia Irene Arnold Halbrook, was born January 31, 1926 in Zion, Arkansas. She departed this life October 30, 2019 at her home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 29 days. She was united in marriage to Walter B. Hall August 14, 1955 and together they raised two children. Jean spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. Jean attended college and earned her Masters Degree in Education from Northeast Missouri College in Kirksville, Missouri. She went on to teach business classes in Seymour and Springfield, Missouri, Oxford and Sylvan Hills, Arkansas. She was employed by Ozarka College in Melbourne as a career counselor. In 1998 Jean retired, after spending forty years in education. She was a mentor and role model for students, co-workers, and friends. We will miss Mama Jean. Jean was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Melbourne Church of Christ.
Jean is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Dennis and Kliffa Hall of Grand Junction, Colorado; one brother: Jack Halbrook and wife Mary of London, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Brandon Hall and wife Karin of Belton, Texas, Amanda Nash of Little Rock and Damon Hall of Denver, Colorado; six great grandchildren: Erika Hall, Natalie Hall, Evan Hall, Noah Hall, Ayla Hall and Izabelleh Hall; her care givers: Paula and Chad Walker of Melbourne; niece: Connie Jackson and husband Leland of Myron; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter: Dianna K. Nash; three brothers: Bill Halbrook, Harold Halbrook and Leonard Halbrook; one sister: Norma Hall; two grandsons: Ryan Hall and Mike Hilton.
Visitation and funeral service will be Saturday, November 9 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be from 1- 2 p.m. Funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Rick Halbrook, Wayne Halbrook, Keith Halbrook, Troy Gaston, Chad Walker, James Gaston and Jim Nash.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Special Operations Warriors Foundation, 1137 Marbella Plaza Drive, Tampa, FL 33619. specialops.org to honor her grandson, Capt. Ryan Hall. The Foundation finances the college education of the children of the Fallen. Freedom is not Free.
Ozarka College Foundation, 218 College Drive, Melbourne, AR 72556. development@ozarka.org to support students in the college where she served as counselor. She valued education highly.
