Obituary

James Wilson "Jim" Mills 76, of Paragould, AR went to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR due to complications from COVID-19.
Jim was born to Lonnie and Bernice Leslie Mills on July 23, 1944 at Smith Hospital in Paris, AR. He was one of nine children. He was united in marriage to his wife Patricia "Patty" Parish on June 4, 1966. To this union two daughters were born Shannon and Paige.

Jim spent his working years as a Superintendent in the road construction business. He had an exceptionally strong work ethic and took great pride in his work and was known throughout Arkansas for his career accomplishments.

Jim loved to tell stories of his younger days growing up in Ratcliff and Paris, AR. He was a County Line Indian and a Paris Eagle where he participated in baseball, basketball, and football. It was entertaining to hear stories of his life with eight siblings, his parents, and many friends. He had many fond memories of his younger days and would have the biggest belly laughs that everyone loved to hear.

Jim loved his family with his whole heart. He had high morals, values, and expected the same of his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband and daddy and spoiled his girls Patty, Shannon, and Paige as well as his beloved grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Bernice Mills, one brother Leslie Mills, two sisters Melinda Cullins, and Betsy Mathews and husband Gary Mathews, and his lifelong best friend Charles Masingale.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patty Mills of Paragould, daughter Shannon Cooper and husband Calvin of Melbourne, and daughter Paige McDaniel and husband Jimmy of Paragould, and his four precious grandchildren: Drake Cooper and wife Abby, Natalie Paige Cooper, James Ty Cooper of Melbourne and Blaire Mills Justice of Paragould. He is survived by siblings Lynwood (Irma) Mills of Paragould, Nancy Mills and Lona Clark of Bryant, Bill (LaDonna) Mills of Lowell, and John Roger Mills (Pat) of Cabot, and sister-in-law Gloria Mills of Hot Springs, and the seventeen nieces and nephews of the Mills family.

Jim will forever live in our hearts and our memories.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers Lynwood, Bill, and John Roger Mills and grandsons Drake and James Ty Cooper.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Oct 30 at 11am at Old Philadelphia Cemetery in Melbourne, AR.
