James Winford "Sock" Franks

of Calico Rock, Arkansas

James Winford "Sock" Franks, son of the late Isaac Winford Franks and Viola Brewer Franks, was born February 12, 1928 in Mississippi County, Arkansas. He departed this life June 20, 2018 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 8 days. He was united in marriage to Estha Mae Curtis July 3, 1950 and together they raised five children. Sock spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. During his lifetime, he worked in numerous professions. He was a logger, a sawmill worker, a service station owner, owned and operated heavy equipment and farmed.

Sock is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law: Bill and Donna Franks, Bob and Cathy Franks and Tom Franks; two daughters: Connie Whiteaker and husband Jeff and Bonnie Franks all of Calico Rock; seven grandchildren: Rusty Franks, Billy Bob Franks, Holly Edwards, Shannon Scott, Tyler Whiteaker, Samantha Franks and Jennifer Britt; eleven great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother: Gene Franks; four sisters: Willie Teague, Nadine Hamby, Imogene Branscum and Betty Jo Pinkston.

Visitation will be Friday, June 22 from 6-8p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert Lane and Darrel Gosser officiating. Burial will follow at Spoon Flat Cemetery near Fifty-six, Arkansas.
