James Wesley Goodman
of Sage, Arkansas
James Wesley Goodman, son of the late William and Lauverta Denton Goodman, was born March 22, 1950 in Center, Arkansas. He departed this life November 17, 2019 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 69 years; 7 months and 27 days. Jim was married to Barbara Zellers from November 28, 1971 until her death June 26, 2018. On February 14, 2019 he was united in marriage to Barbara Pelletier. James spent his life as a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend He was a southern gentleman who rarely said no to helping friends and neighbors. He was a carpenter by trade. Jim enjoyed helping people with their carpentry projects. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and attended Sunday evening services at Sidney Baptist Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 1 year: Barbara Anne Goodman of the home; one son: James David Goodman of Ohio; two daughters and two sons-in-law: Joyce and Billy Beach of Batesville and Deborah and Andrew Messenger of Little Rock; five sisters: Donna Sherrod and husband Richard of Clinton, Marty Lehman of Pea Ridge, Lela Beavers of Kennett, Missouri, Wanda Goodbar and husband Joe of Tuscan, Arizona, and Elzada Foster of Ocala, Florida; two brothers: Ray Goodman of Alabama and Lee Gage of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister-in-law: Olivia Goodson of Ash Flat; seven grandchildren: Kylia Goodman, Kaiden Burchett, Kaylynne Burchett, Gavin Messinger, Dylan Messinger, Elaina Messenger and J. J. Goodman; one great granddaughter: Everleigh Kay Goodman; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; four brothers: Vester Goodman, George Goodman, Jessie Goodman, Freddy Gage and two sisters: Zela Jennings and Margaret Gibbar.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 23 at 11;00 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church with John Higgins and Elvis Sneathern officiating. Arrangements by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne, Arkansas.
