James Woodrow Cook

Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

James Woodrow Cook, son of the late Woodrow Walter Cook and Irene Humphries Cook, was

born December 7, 1941 in Batesville, Arkansas. He departed this life January 5, 2023 in

Springfield, Missouri at the age of 81 years and 29 days. He was a graduate of Melbourne High

School and went on to earn an Associates Degree from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville.

He was united in marriage to Mablean Green November 11, 1961 and together they raised three

sons. Most of his working years were spent as a sawmill operator and land surveyor. He was of

the Baptist faith and a member of Calico Rock First Baptist Church.

James is survived by three sons: Clifton Cook and wife Lori of Hot Springs, Brandon Cook and

wife Crystal of Montgomery, Alabama and Derrick Cook and wife Sandra of Calico Rock; two

sisters: Linda Jeffery of Morrilton and Sylvia Engles and husband Troy Junior of Dardanelle;

seven grandchildren: Erin (Seth) Akers, Ethan Cook, Courtney (Dalton) Robison, Cory (Heather)

Cook, Camryn Cook, Caitlin (Hayden) Williams, Kerrigan Cook; four step grandchildren:

Matthew Turgeon, Kyle Turgeon, Rachel Moore and Jacob Turgeon; eight great grandchildren:

Kaidence Cook, Case Lee Cook, Kenton Branscum, Collins Branscum, Jocelyn Williams,

Braxton Williams, Harper Robison, and Peyton Bridges plus a host of other relatives and many

good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Woodrow and Irene Cook; his wife:

Mablean Cook, and one brother-in-law: Noel Jeffery.

Memorial service will be held Monday, January 9 at 5:00 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home

in Melbourne with Wade Moser officiating.
