James "Rusty" Calvin Houston

Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

James "Rusty" Calvin Houston, son of the late J. C. Houston and Vadila Warren Houston, was born April 15, 1945 in Orange, Texas.  He departed this life May 16, 2024 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 1 day.  Rusty proudly served in the United States Army. In 1968 he was united in marriage to Vickie Gresham.  Rusty spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend.  Most of his working years were spent owing and operating a tree service.  He was of the Baptist faith.

James is survived by his wife of 56 years:  Vickie Houston of the home; one son:  James Houston and wife Buffy of Pineville; one daughter:  Michelle Houston of Oxford; one brother:  Carlton Lee Houston and wife Betty of Zavalla, Texas; three grandchildren:  Autumn Houston, Cody Reynolds, Wesley Reynolds; four great grandchildren:  Trevor Layer, Hunter Houston, Hannah Ferguson, Skyler Phillips; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters:  Fannie Belle Cumpler, Shirley Freeman and two brothers:  Hulen Houston, Eddie Wayne Houston.

Graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Oxford Cemetery with Leon Morehead officiating under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne, Arkansas.
