Irene Edna Baker Roddy
of Melbourne, Arkansas
Irene Edna Baker Roddy, daughter of the late Harven Baker and Ethel Gains Baker, was born April 30, 1936 in De Land, Illinois. She departed this life April 2, 2019 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage first to Charles Harmon and later to Sam Roddy. Irene spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. After moving to Arkansas from Illinois, Irene worked at the shoe factory in Batesville. She went on to work 15 years at White River Shirt Company in Melbourne. After leaving the shirt factory, she managed Melbourne Motel for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Melbourne.
Irene is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law: Bucksey and Phyllis Harmon of Melbourne and Dennis and Roxanne Harmon of Oxford; one daughter: Rhonda Harmon of Melbourne; one brother: Darwin Baker of Illinois; two sisters: Carmen Brown and Harriett Evans both of Illinois; seven grandchildren: Tess Weatherford (Toby), Tara Joe Tate (Braden), Quentin Teegarden (Shawna), Chad Harmon, Cassie Taylor (Zach), Sherman Ball, Shonda Trewyn (Justin); nine great grandchildren: Max Weatherford, Jasper Tate, Kyler Tate, Eastyn Teegarden, Trinity Trewyn, Jaxon Trewyn, Abigail Ball, Tyler Ball and Emma Ball; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands and one great grandson: Carson Weatherford.
Visitation and funeral service will be Friday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne with Doyne Robertson officiating. Visitation begins at 12:30 p.m. Funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Rodney Hoskinds, Rick Yancey, Dean Felton, Quentin Teegarden, Chad Harmon, Jim Muncy.
