Herchel G. "Spec" Howard

Of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas

Herchel G Howard, 85, of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was born October 22, 1937 in Prescott, Arkansas to Cleve Howard and Delphia Defore Peters.  Spec worked as a sheetrock hanger and upon retirement, became a cattle farmer for 50 plus years.  He loved taking care of his cattle and farm.  Whenever he was asked what he did today, his reply was always "farming".  He enjoyed getting on all his machinery and "working the farm".

Survivors include his son, Shane (Michele) Howard of Mount Pleasant, daughter, Kobie (Thomas) Edwards of Melbourne, grandsons:  Nicholas (Debbie) Howard of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Adam Howard of Batesville, Jimmy Hooper, Jacob Hooper and Joshua Howard; granddaughters: Nicole (Dylan) Masterson of Cabot and Jordan Hooper; brother:  Jerry (Joyce) Howard of Pearl River, Louisiana; several great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife:  Glenda Stewart Howard, two brothers:  Bobby Joel Howard and Harlis Howard.

Graveside funeral service will be Friday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Barren Fork Cemetery in Mount Pleasant with Darrell Liles officiating.

Pallbearers:  Nicholas Howard, Eric Masterson, Rusty Shaver and Jonathan Smith.
