Hartence Ortez Edwards Loggains
of Violet Hill, Arkansas
Hartence Ortez Edwards Loggains, daughter of the late Claude Elkins Edwards and Dovie Opal Moser Edwards, was born February 21, 1938 in Lafferty, Arkansas. She departed this life July 16, 2024 at her home in Violet Hill, Arkansas at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 5 days. Shortly after graduating high school, Ortez was united in marriage to Leon Loggains. Ortez was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. Ortez started her working career as a fruit picker in Washington but spent most of her working life at White River Shirt Company and Melbourne School Lunchroom. She was a member of Eastern Star and Belview Baptist Church.
Ortez is survived by one daughter: Janelle Taylor and husband Danny of Melbourne; two sons: Jason Loggains and wife Darie of Melbourne and Brian Loggains of Violet Hill; two brothers: D. R. Edwards (Beth) of Mount Pleasant and Pete Edwards (Linda) of Melbourne; eight grandchildren: David Taylor, Greg Taylor, Megan Cazzell (Joe), Tiffany Rounds (Shannon), Mami Sullins (T. J.), Susan Abernathy, Kirby Hurtt (Rusty), Kelsi Bray (Nic); 29 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Ginath Evans of Mount Pleasant, Earldean Loggains of Melbourne; one brother-in-law: Earl Loggains of Coppas Clove, Texas and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Katie Loggains; her parents; her husband; one brother: Wendell Edwards; two sisters: Peggy Caraway, Gail Smith, two great grandsons: Aiden McCurley, Jasper Pool and a beloved aunt: Josie Edwards.
Visitation and funeral service will be Friday, July 19 at Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Reeves Cemetery, C/O Delena Conway, 34 Locust Street, Melbourne, Arkansas 72556.
