Gregory Joe Ward

of Melbourne, Arkansas

Gregory Joe Ward, son of Mary Evelyn Soden Ward and the late Orbra Ward, was born July 19, 1958 in Calico Rock, Arkansas. He departed this life August 7, 2026 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 68. Greg was a 1976 graduate of Melbourne High School. Soon after graduation, Greg worked as an Izard County Sheriff’s Deputy. He went on to become a truck driver and worked as a carpenter. Greg was a gifted woodworker; at his woodshop he built furniture and bowls and a talented musician.

Greg is survived by one son: Clayton Ward and wife Deanna of Conway; two daughters: Leslie Hammond and husband Steve of Mountain Home and Lydia Hardcastle; his mother: Evelyn Ward of Melbourne; two brothers: Jerry Ward and wife Cynthia and Kenny Ward all of Melbourne; three grandchildren: Lexi Hilburn of Red Oak, Texas, Layne Hammond and Loni Hammond both of Mountain Home; one great grandchild: Layla Bell of Conway; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his father and one infant brother: Gary Lee Ward.

Memorial service will be Tuesday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne with Logan Holladay officiating.
