Gorgie Louise Churchill Guthrie
Of Calico Rock, Arkansas
Gorgie Louise Churchill Guthrie, daughter of the late Henry E. Churchill and Sarah Elizabeth Moody Churchill, was born February 27, 1926 in Calico Rock, Arkansas. She departed this life December 25, 2020 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 94 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was united in marriage to Ernest Lee Guthrie March 17, 1945 in Calico Rock and together they raised four sons. Gorgie spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. Gorgie began her working career as a beautician. Later she took a position at Baxter Lab in Mountain Home. She retired after 20 plus years of employment. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of Calico Rock United Methodist Church.
Gorgie is survived by one son: Ronnie Guthrie and wife Bettie of Calico Rock; three daughters-in-law: Betty Guthrie of Mountain Home, Sharon Housley of Russellville and Karen Stroud of North Carolina; five grandchildren: Deana Taylor , Susan Smith, Tanya Wood, Heather Dearing, Mathew Guthrie; eight great grandchildren: Lindsey, Sarah, Kristin, Garrett, Molly, Luke, Lauren and Hayden; four great great grandchildren: Charley, Paisley, Hadley and Hazel; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons: Eddie Guthrie, Doug Guthrie and Randy Guthrie; two grandsons: Jason Guthrie and Jared Guthrie and two sisters: Rose Clark and Inez Lawrence.
Graveside funeral service will be Monday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Gale Wooten officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers: Deana Taylor, Susan Smith, Tanya Wood, Heather Dearing, Matthew Guthrie.
