Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Gladys Amelia Glavin Waithe, daughter of the late Leslie Edmund Glavin and Nellie Isabell Brown Glavin, was born January 2, 1938 in Jasper Alberta, Canada.  She departed this life May 15, 2021 at her home in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 13 days.  She was united in marriage to Barry Waithe October 22, 1956 and together they raised two daughters.  Gladys spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She had an extraordinary love for all of her family, who loved her back tenfold. She possessed a quiet strength which carried her through many trials in her life. She loved her gardening, her flowers, and spending time in her sewing room making numerous quilts for family members. She also loved her church family and the fellowship they shared. None of us will ever see a hummingbird and not think of her.  Before retiring, she worked as a home health care aide with White River Area Agency on Aging.  She was a member of Oxford Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Oxford.

She is survived by two daughters:  Beverley Stewart (Jerry Kellett) of Calico Rock and Charlene Mounts (Mike) of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother:  Jim Glavin of Vancouver, Canada; two sisters:  Gerry Schliess (Walter) of Revelstoke, Canada and Dorothy Watson (Brent) of Maple Ridge, Canada; six grandchildren:  Kerri Killian (Marc), Adam Stewart (Bethany), Jimmy Stewart (Sarah), Eric Stewart (Tena), Heather Mounts, Kristin Mounts (Clayton); eleven great grandchildren:  Alex Hale (Abby), Andy Hale, Kazzie Stewart, Dakota Stewart, Maddie Stewart, Piper Stewart, Sully Stewart, Rigg Stewart, Declan Mounts, Kaidence Mertens, Merrette Heufelder; two great great grandchildren:  Lex Hale and Ava Hale and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother:  David Davis; one sister:  Elvira Sowan; one grandson:  Sean Mounts and one great grandson:  Gauge Stewart.
