Gina Leigh Smith Sheedy
of Sage, Arkansas
Gina Leigh Smith Sheedy, daughter of the late Junior Wayne Smith and Treva Duren Smith, was born December 19, 1963 in Alton, Illinois. She departed this life May 24, 2026 at her home in Sage, Arkansas at the age of 62. She attended Melbourne High School and went on to earn a nursing degree. Gina worked as an LPN at Carl R. Darnell Army Medical Center, Uvalde Memorial Hospital and Midway Medical Clinic. She was united in marriage to David Charles Sheedy, Jr December 24, 1983 and together they raised three children. She devoted her life to her family, whom she loved fiercely. After the death of her son and daughter-in-law, she stepped in to raise their three children instilling the values of faith, family, and love for others above all else. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mount Pleasant Southern Baptist Church.
Gina is survived by her husband of 42 years: David Charles Sheedy, Jr of the home; two daughters: Christi Thomas and husband Kenny of Mount Pleasant, Sydney Sheedy of Sage; three siblings: James Smith, Linda Lawerence and husband Scott, David Smith and wife Joy all of Sage; six grandchildren: Mackenzie Thomas, David L Sheedy, Savannah Sheedy, Sarah Sheedy, Levi Thomas, and Gus O'Brien; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends as well as her church family, who she loved greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Connie Pollock; one son: Russell Sheedy and a daughter-in-law: Jackie Sheedy.
Graveside funeral service will be Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Smith Family Cemetery in Sage with Bruce Qualls officiating.
