Gale Phipps

Of Brockwell, Arkansas

Gale Phipps, son of the late John William Carl "Mutt" Phipps and Cassie Haney Phipps, was born July 23, 1940 in Larkin, Arkansas. He departed this life February 22, 2020 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 30 days. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Clark March 7, 1963 and together they raised one daughter. Gale spent his life as a loving son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Most of his working years were spent as a butcher or working at the sawmill. He enjoyed playing music. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Gale is survived by his wife of 56 years: Carolyn Phipps of the home; one daughter: Debby Phipps-Parker and husband Jeff of Ash Flat, Arkansas; eight sibilings: Tom Phipps (Kathrean) of Larkin, Dean Phipps of Larkin, Jim Phipps (Melda) of Newburg, Carl Phipps (Shelia) of Jonesboro, Janie Tate (Raybourne) of Melbourne, Jerry Phipps (Kathy) of Hickory Ridge, Paul Phipps (Shellia) of Melbourne and Gaye Carpenter (Harold) of Violet Hill; four grandchildren: Justin Conyers (Cassey), Haley McCandlis (Derrick), Kasey Childs (Lonnie) and Brady Conyers (Paula); thirteen great grandchildren: Nathan, Waylon, Keaton, Keeley Conyers, Xander, Braxton, Ella, Zoey McCandlis, Nash, Barrett Campbell, Cali Jo Herring, Kyson Hopper, Kelton Conyers and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two nephews; one niece and one sister-in-law.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Monday, February 24 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery.
