Franklin Delano Roddy
of Melbourne, Arkansas
Franklin Delano Roddy, son of the late Nathan Alexander Roddy and Elsie Pearl Cheatham Roddy, was born July 17, 1936 in Newburg, Arkansas. He departed this life February 2, 2019 at his home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 16 days. He was a graduate of Melbourne High School. He spent his life as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. After high school, he worked for Hill Wyatt at the sawmill. Later he moved to Little Rock and attend Daughon Business School and graduated as a CPA. He went on to become a tax preparer and bookkeeper in Benton, Arkansas. He moved back to Melbourne and worked as a paralegal for Wid Billingsley. In the early 70's he served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Izard County Sheriff's Office. On June 1, 1974 he was united in marriage to Charline Hill. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Melbourne First Baptist Church.
Franklin is survived by his wife of 44 years: Charline Roddy of the home; two sons: Randy Roddy and wife Donna of Lavaca, Arkansas and Phillip Roddy and wife Lisa of Garland, Texas; one daughter: Rhonda Stacks and husband Clay of Norfork; three stepchildren: Greg Motley and wife Amanda of Corsicana, Texas, Darrell Motley and wife Marie of Trinidad, Texas and Deana Motley of Melbourne; 10 grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one stepson: Donny Motley.
Visitation will be Monday, February 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Melbourne First Baptist Church with Rick Burke and Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Page Cemetery.
