Eugene S. Sullins

Of Wild Cherry, Arkansas

Eugene S. Sullins, son of the late Euen Oscar Sullins and Trudy Ross Sullins, was born June 28, 1935 in Wild Cherry, Arkansas. He departed this life September 27, 2020 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 30 days. Gene was a lifelong resident of Wild Cherry, Arkansas. After high School he served in the United States Army. On June 11, 1994 he was united in marriage to Doris V. Houghtaling. Gene spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, stepfather, step grandfather, provider and friend.   Gene retired from Sentinel Industries in Calico Rock after 25 years of employment. After retirement he went to work tending his farm. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Wild Cherry Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Doris Sullins of the home; four stepchildren: Jack Houghtaling and wife Terri of Washington, Janice Meeks and husband Don of Conway, Jay Houghtaling of Wild Cherry and James Houghtaling and wife Jennifer of Wild Cherry; two sisters: Wilma Washington of Calico Rock and Alice Hodges and husband Waldo of Elizabeth; nine step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews: Bill Clinton, David Clinton, Mary Honeycutt, Rhonda Burris, Leah McGee, Sunnie Ewing, Susie Snow, Michael Sullins and Billy Bob Sullins and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings: Odean Sullins , Delma Lee Sullins and Linda Scoggins.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 30 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Beth Kratochvil officiating. Burial will be at Wild Cherry Cemetery.
