Ernest Wayne Horton
Of Calico Rock, Arkansas
Ernest Wayne Horton, son of the late Clarence Horton and Winnie Grace Bristow, was born July 31, 1942 in Ash Flat, Arkansas. He departed this life November 13, 2021 at his home in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 13 days. A few years after graduating from Ash Flat High School, he was united in marriage to Linda Dixon and together they raised two children. Ernest spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. Most of his working years were spent as a commercial truck driver. He retired from Walmart Trucking after 16 years of employment. Ernest was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of Pineville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 58 years: Linda Horton of the home; one son: Joe Horton and wife Jeana of McKinney, Texas; one daughter: Lucretia Horton of the home; one brother: LeRoy Orr and wife Jane of Ash Flat; three grandchildren: Haley Horton, Austin Horton and Billie Horton; one great grandson: Ezra J. Lee; one sister-in-law: Carolyn Horton of Seymour, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Alice Nix and one brother: Danny Horton.
Visitation and funeral service will be Wednesday, November 17 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Pineville Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Denny Copeland, John Dixon, Mark Hayes, Lelan Cox, Kirk Boyd, Rocky Dockins.
Honorary Pallbearers: Haley Horton, Austin Horton, Billie Horton, Mike Nix, Don Grills, Melvin Smith, Cleo Hackney, Robert Kisling (T-Bird), Jerry Hayes, David Grimes, David Killian, and a host of trucker buddies too numerous to mention.
