Erlene Lucy King

Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Erlene Lucy King, daughter of the late James Ewell "Bud" Lucy and Mollie E. Galloway Lucy, was born August 17, 1929 in Calico Rock, Arkansas.  She departed this life December 18, 2024 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 95.  Erlene was a life long resident of Calico Rock.  Erlene spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mamma, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  Erlene started working at City Drug Store, serving ice cream, sundaes, and sodas.  She was united in marriage to Roland King May 9, 1953 and together they raised two children.  Later, Erlene drove the Chessmond Ferry and Gorby school bus routes for Calico Rock School District. She went on to work at Sentinel Industries and Calico Rock City Hall. Her family was her greatest joy.   Erlene was of the Baptist faith and a member of Calico Rock First Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son:  Jim King and wife Joannie of Calico Rock; one daughter:  Nancy Kemp of Pineville; three grandchildren:  Jamie (Michelle) King of Cave City, Jerred (Stephanie) King of Calico Rock, Amy (Brett) Stevenson of Oxford; seven great grandchildren:  Kobe (Bella) King, Cy King, Rhett King, Pryce Lucy King, Everly King, Noah Stevenson, Ryder Stevenson; two great great grandchildren:  Hadley and Hudson King; two sisters-in-law:  Helen King of Pineville and Jeanette Hooper of Washington and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Roland King; one brother:  Billy Ray Lucy and one sister:  Bethel Wanda Arnold.

Visitation and funeral service will be Monday, December 23 at First Baptist Church in Calico Rock.  Visitation will begin at 12:30. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Kevin Bishop officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.

Pallbearers:  Jamie King, Jerred King, Brett Stevenson, Kobe King, Cy King, Noah Stevenson, Rhett King, Ryder Stevenson.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Randy Webb, Mike King, Terry King, Gary Garner, Larry Joe King, Eddie King, Brad Yancey, Clint Lucy, Steven Hooper.
